Our Origin Story

Understanding the impact the impending demographic shift will have for Canadian families, Catherine is passionate about bringing the best in dementia care and aging population products to communities and caregivers across the country.

In 2019, Catherine was awarded a grant from the Government of the Northwest Territories to establish her own social enterprise start-up company to pursue these goals. She founded The Opal Season Company Ltd., with the goal of working with families and organizations to make dementia-friendly experiences accessible and enjoyable.

To date, she has worked with families, faith groups, arts organizations and private companies in Yellowknife, Edmonton, Regina, Toronto, and New York City, as well as collaborating with dementia advocates and researchers in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
